Getting Ready for a Sale

Making sun hats in and with a variety of bold prints.
Pulling together a few of my favorite baby hats.
And taking advantage of the nice weather to do a tent set up practice run.

This last activity was a family affair, as I required my husbands help. (Which means he did almost all of the set up.) Upon waking from her nap Amira joined us, and Max is always near by.

Thank you family for spending your nice day doing the same!

Let's have fun at SOWA next weekend!

Getting back into it!

So now there are two!
This spring has been all about family-with the addition of Max.

But he makes it pretty easy. Just cooing & sleeping. A new experience for us!

Amira on the other hand appears to have become a teenager overnight! Put down that phone!
Really though, she is still our little girl. We did our first Easter egg hunt this spring-another holiday filled with candy-lucky her!

And I am starting to make some summer hats, to compliment my winter ones.
I am also working on a better boy line, having a son now-I have a better sense of what works. (Not the pict below.)
But I get easily distracted these days.  Maybe I can pull it together. I will be in the SOWA markets this summer & fall. I am thinking of Benjamin Franklin as I use my time. And like him, I am not doing too much housework these days:)

Where Have I Been?

I have been a little absent from this blog lately, but not for lack of things to document.

I finished this blanket for a friend who just had her first baby...

And that is not the only new baby around!

Little Max joined our family at the end of February.

Though, as far as babies go, he is not that little.

And our little girl is keeping us busy as usual.

Though she hardly seems small anymore!
I have had a number of wonderful distractions, and what could be better than that? As we settle into new routines, I hope to get back to some old habits. But soon it will be summer, and I will have even more to distract me!

Ta-Da Moment!

Our friends are having a baby,

And inspired by a beautiful baby blanket given to me at my shower, I made this blanket.

It took me a while to figure out what to make a baby boy-I live in a land with pink sparkle sneakers.

I came up with this.

And I must say I feel quite accomplished having finished it!

Planning and doing-on to the next project!

Getting through it

Halfway though February and this is my first post! Well we have been getting used to a new routine around here, so I have fallen a little behind in some areas. But, to sum up this month-we are still in WINTER. Groundhog, will your vision be true? Truthfully though, this is one of the first years that I don't even really mind winter. Oddly, as this has been one of the worst I have experienced in years...

We are all buried under several feet of snow. The snow has turned into ice, coated with dirt in most areas.

And it is definitely hard to navigate the sidewalks with a stroller...
So most of our downtime is spent indoors.

A lot of time has been spent in our kitchen.

Amira loves to mix things, so we have been giving her flour and water and salt to mix up. Of course, this is adding to me doing some extra baking as well. (Just what I need in the middle of winter, an excuse to make cookies.) The in-process cookies above are not for Valentines, I have no "G" Valentines. We hosted a Superbowl party this year as the Green Bay Packers, Adrian's favorite team, played. So those cookies are my Valentine's cookies from last year refashioned into Green Bay support cookies. They were delicious, and the team won-which I attributed to my Xmas gift to Adrian, a Green Bay inspired, felted helmet hat for Amira!

Snow Day

Another blizzard resulting in a snow day in Boston!

Now, Boston is not know for friendly driving, or easy parking. And when it snows, this road rage can translate into parking wars, with spots minimally shoveled and then claimed with trash barrels for days. But, in this blizzard, we went out to shovel out our car and claim our space with our rocking lawn chair-and experienced neighborlyness! Adrian was shoveling the front part of the car and Amira and I just started playfully knocking at the snow, when one of the two men clearing the truck behind ours took his large broom and started helping us clear our car. Soon we were all sharing shovels and brooms and clearing not just enough snow that we can edge our car out, but also clearing the snow between the cars, and the side walks to boot, even though they were not in front of our house! At work today everyone was trading war stories of fights that had ensued while they were digging out, but I only had a pleasant experience to add. As it should always be:)

Snow Day!

The snow kept us all home today. If I loved snow days as a kid, I love them so much more now:) We all went out to play. I, however, am not made for the cold weather and quickly was complaining. That said, Amira was such a little cutie, eating the snow trying to walk in it. And maybe I even got an upper body work out, trying to dig out the car. She has my old snow suit on underneath her coat. (My mom keeps everything.) But she is already too tall for it, and high waders are not the most effective style in high snow.
