Morning at the Pops

Adrian was lucky enough to get some tickets to the Holiday Pops: Kids Matinee. We don't go to the symphony too often, so today was a special treat and it was nice to be able to bring Amira.

The program was geared towards families, so there were many kids around, of all ages.
We listened to "'Twas the Night Before Christmas", "How the Grinch stole Christmas". Santa Claus even made an appearance.

At the end we had a sing along. And Amira clapped happily with the rest of the crowed.

This was an experience we should definitely repeat.

Trimming the Tree

We trimmed the tree after work. We kept Amira up past her bedtime to keep her involved. She and I watched the pop corn pop while Adrian unpacked the ornaments. She pulled the lights off the tree and yelled when we tried to put them back on. She put an ornament on a branch and delighted in our claps. Then she pulled it off the branch and threw it on the ground. She tried to put everything on her head, and ate a lot of popcorn. I ate a lot of pop corn too. Adrian drank a beer. Then it was bath and bed for our little baby. And soon we found ourselves asleep too.

Xmas is coming...

Now, time to deck the halls.

A wreath is on the door.
The tree is up.
The decorations are down.

It is just all needs to come together...

Some things I've crafted

Last weekend was the RISD Holiday sale, my booth above. Everyone complimented Amira on her good behavior. (Thank you Adrian.) For awhile she slept in her stroller, right where the chair is above. People would look at the hats, turn to the pillows, and startle-"there is a real baby right there!"
I mentioned in my last post that Amira and Adrian were sick over Thanksgiving. Amira was over it by the fair, Adrian, almost, but not quite. And me, it hadn't even hit yet. But this week, I was knocked out. I was miserable at work on Monday, and have been out since. Tuesday, Amira is home with me. I felt so bad, I just sat on the couch, but she was so good. Bringing books to read, and playing with her toys. Yesterday, Adrian pulled all of my yarn next to my spot on the couch (which is the whole couch) and I started making some more flowers, which helped perk me up a little bit. I think he may have been tired of seeing me drowning in self pity. Understandable. These past two days, home alone, it is the first time in a long time I have had so much time to myself. It's a shame I don't feel well, but it has made me appreciate how busy I am normally.

Turkey, Colds, & Hats

What have I been up to? Amira of course is keeping me busy, and then there is work, Thanksgiving, and another craft sale.

I have been making hats every day, but I am still worried about how much product I will have by this Saturday.

We hosted our first Thanksgiving. Complete with my first Turkey.

Which Amira loved. She ate as much as she could despite the fact that she was sick and having trouble eating. She has a virus on top of her ear infection that won't go away. She started a new medicine and I am hoping it helps, we all could use a full nights sleep.

Here is my plate, I thought it was so pretty with the red beet, purple cranberry sauce, green brussel sprouts, yellow squash, orange sweet potatoes, white turkey, etc. I should have done a dinner color story!

So the rest of my week will be about getting ready for the sale this Saturday. I will be featuring hats (as seen below), pillows, and paintings.

Amira and Adrian

Amira has been having lots of fun with Daddy lately. She has been very content to stay with him all morning long. And he is indulging her every chance he gets:)

Walk at Lunch

Color Story

Halloween may have past, but we still have ghosts in my neighborhood.
White:

And the fresh colors of spring have faded, but their shadows are left behind.
Pink:

We haven't had a frost yet so some buds are still blooming.
Red:

And pumpkins remain in tact.
Orange:

The leaves are fading.
Yellow:

Not all of them.
Green:

We are all in hats now.
Blue:

Though maybe only when we sleep can we keep them on our heads.
Purple:

Time to get close to stay warm.
Brown:

And avoid the nasty weather brewing.
Black:

We are ready for a new season.
Gray:

Night time

With November comes earlier nights. Amira is still going to sleep pretty early. In the summer, I felt stuck in the house. But with the evenings early onset, it is easy to settle into a night at home. We put up our Christmas lights for Halloween to be a little festive, and have left them up and on since! I have started my popcorn habit again. And I have made nearly 4 hats in the last week! Adrian has been making stews, and I have been making lots of beans. I am so happy Amira loves beans like me! Of course, all this hanging around the house is helping to make a few more piles of misc. items in various places. Though those piles are treasures to Amira:)
